Darren Thomas - Guitar & Bass

         Darren Thomas began taking guitar lessons at age ten. At age 11, he began singing and playing lead guitar in his church band. From ages 12 to 15, he performed weekly at the Cornerstone Cafe. During high school, Darren was awarded numerous honors for his guitar skills. He was a member of the all district Jazz band for three years. As a junior he was invited to join Jefferson College Jazz ensemble where he performed with Rick Hayden, Carmen Bradford, Christian Mcbride, and Peter Martin. He attended the Elmhurst Jazz festival in Illinois where he kicked off the band with Sundown by Wes Montgomery. His senior year, he was awarded the Louis Armstrong award. Darren, along with all of the other members of Route 67 recieved the Nick Nixon Award for their achievements in Country Music. Darren is a member of the Chet Atkins Association. He attended and performed at the Chet Atkins Convention in Nashville, where he met and jammed with John Knowles, Richard Smith, Tom Bresh, Loren Barrigar and Mark Mazengarb. Darren's influences are Randy Travis, George Jones, Chet Atkins, Brad Paisley, and Tommy Emmanuel. He had the opportunity to meet and play with Tommy Emmanuel. Darren Currently teaches guitar lessons, attends college, plays lead guitar at his church and is a lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist, and vocalist in Route 67.
